UNOY 2nd GLOBAL YOUTH PEACE CONFERENCE

A UNOY contribution towards the Hague Appeal for Peace 1999
The Netherlands, May 6-16, 1999


The United Nations Of Youth (UNOY) was established in 1989 in the Netherlands as a non-political, non-religious NGO. Its objectives are to:

* train youth leaders in the field of peace-building, non-violent conflict resolution and reconciliation;

* develop an International Network of young Peace-builders;

* promote the idea of a partnership between young people and the United Nations. The UNOY Global Youth Peace Conference will consist of several parts:

1. sharing and discussions in working groups and home groups,
2. training in innovative non-violent conflict resolution, reconciliation, cross-conflict dialogue, NGO and project management,
3. networking, planning projects and campaigns towards the UN International Year of a Culture of Peace 2000,
4. participating in the Hague Appeal for Peace 1999 Conference.

Criteria for Application:

Applicants are required to provide:

* a completed application form and a letter of recommendation.

* an essay on their vision of a Culture of.Peace or an Agenda for Peace for the 21st Century;

* participating in the Hague Appeal for Peace 1999 Conference.

Participants are also asked to bring with them creative presentations of their work: Photographs, collages, drawings, videos, which will be on display during the conference in Vught and the Hague.
